That sort of poor DVC experience is exactly what I encountered upon my first stay at the Beach Club Villas. It was at that moment that it was reinforced to me that DVC was nothing more than a prepaid vacation deposit on the next forty years of visiting WDW, unless I sold; regardless of how I felt about the direction of the resort. The rooms certainly weren't impressive, the views hit or miss, and the condition of brand new villas, cheap materials, broken furniture, etc.. It wasn't a second home, it was a glorified hotel room that many strangers routinely beat the heck out of, because they "owned it" or "paid for it". Needless to say, I sold. -- As for the GF Villas, yes they are coming. Like a Mighty Wind. Hope the boys (and girls) over in Monorails have the system up to snuff by then. Keep adding rooms to a broken system! Sounds like a great plan

I was referencing the DVC Villas at WL as my second choice. I don't really care for DVC. If I were to stay at one I would try AKL Villas, which I have not yet. If it was sold out I would probably go to WL Villas as a backup for no other reason that I have had bad experiences at the Epcot DVCs and I don't want to stay at a motel Saratoga/OKW no matter how nice. Perhaps based on your review I would try BLT or AKL and not go back to WL Villas. Pretty inconsequential. I have no plans to return to WDW accommodations anytime soon. Maybe swing by the parks for a day when I am sick of being treated nicely over at Loews. Sometimes the great guest service and extra touches become unbearable. ...And no, I'm not talking about non-gender towel animals.

No, I don't think it's even in the top 5 reasons why things have gone south. But when DVC is the only thing TWDC is interested in building on Florida land, something's very wrong. There is NO doubt that the quality overall at resorts such as the Beach Club and the Wilderness Lodge dropped dramatically when their DVC additions were added. I much prefer DVC in locales were it was intended be it multi-purpose resorts like BW or stand alones such as OKW and SS. Those other resorts were never designed to have so many people using facilities. They weren't designed for people who 'moved' into the resorts for weeks and cooked etc. BCV even is on an incredibly undesirable piece of land that was never intended to be built on, unlike WLV which were very nicely placed next to the main building. But Disney is all about being in this for the short haul. And that's why no fewer than FIVE more DVC resorts are on the boards for WDW. Who cares whether it places added demand on infrastructure that can't handle what it currently has? Who cares if you have folks lugging Walmart shopping bags into their new GFV? Who cares if you haven't even come close to selling out the last THREE Florida DVCs that you've built? Just take the money and run? Right? BTW, have our good friends at WDW Social Media announced this on their official blog? Or are we all supposed to have Pixie Dust in our eyes and pretend it isn't happening?

So I have to live it all day long in the real world and then in my escape fun world(LP). I also really miss Mr.X so if you are reading "Hello".Hope your family is well. Still planning the family trip? And if Doobie is reading How long does banning last? Thanks for letting me interfere in your conversation and thanks for being so considerate at a moment when I needed it.

I expect the Disney for sale rumor will come true before I can believe more DVC's.

Sorry the talk brings you down, honestly. But the other option is to just play into Disney's hands and ignore they are running WDW (and much of the company) into the ground. I get that some people come here for happy talk, but that's very simplistic. When Disney does good, you'll hear about it. But WDW has been ignored/abused/neglected for over a decade and when even sites loaded with MAGICal Pixie Dusters are saying as much, it isn't just a few people unhappy because Horizons closed or they can't eat at Le Cellier anymore. I'll take your comments about needing to concentrate on my posts and take notes as a compliment. I have an extra 2008 WDW notepad and pen set here ;-)
