But, the page that loads says, "the-e-ticket.com expired on 02/21/2008 and is pending renewal or deletion."

Is "E Ticket Magazine" out of business? Or, did they just forget to pay their domain fee?

Or, do they have a new website address and LP's link needs to be updated?

"The "E" Ticket" will no longer be published.

I talked to Jack Janzen in January and he sold the name "The "E" Ticket" and will no longer be publishing the magazine.

I am sorry to be the bearer of this. I will miss the magazine.

I must admit when we started Tales magazine over three years ago I never expected to be the only game in town - ever. First the Disney Magazine and now E-Ticket magazine. Lots of publications have come and gone over the past decade but I only hope that we can continue Tales.

I always envisage that Tales would be a mix of past, present and future - however the number of current projects over the past 3 years has meant that we never really got around to cover the historical aspect as much as we would have liked (although the history of the Golden Horseshoe Revue article from Issue 2 that Doobie wrote is one of my favorites). Plus we just did the development of Epcot through Marty Sklar's eye. I don't ever expect to be able to cover the history like E-Ticket (those are big shoes to fill) but I hope we will be able to dip in and out to supplement our current tales.

It was so good that it was for sale at Disneyland itself. That's testament to how excellent the product was, and the niche it served.

Too bad other folks couldn't take it over and keep it going. It wouldn't be the same I guess though. I wish that Jack would at least publish one last, final edition to wrap it all up and say so long.

ArchtMig mention PoV which had some really great information that sort of faded away a while ago.

Another excellent Disney fan magazine was Storyboard which ran from 1987 through 1990 when it was sold out and became Storyboard, The Art of Laughter which ran from 1990 through 1995.

There were also a couple of great issues of Theme Park Adventure about Pirates and Tarzan's Tree house.

Alas, Tales of the Laughingplace appears to be about all that is left in terms of a "magazine." I would also like to put in a word for the book series "Walt's People" which is on its 5th book and has a collection of papers about the people that worked with Walt.

I thanked him for carrying on after his brother's death. That must have been so hard on so many levels.

I will miss E-Ticket terribly. There is no other magazine like it and I doubt there ever will be. I always thought it a great compliment and imprimatur that the magazine was available for sale in the Park too.
The attention to detail and historical accuracy was always tremendous.

They should be proud for a great run.

    That's really very sad.

But when the gentleman said it wasn't fun anymore, I actually could kind of read it in the magazine. As I said earlier, it seemed to have lost a bit of luster of late. I thought it was that they just ran out of things to talk about, but maybe it was just someone trying to carry on with a heavy heart.

What a wonderful, warm magazine. Still, I'd rather see the curtain drop than know The E Ticket was limping along.

As for Persistence of Vision, it really doesn't deserve mention in a post about The E Ticket...Paul Anderson's pathetic half-promises still rub me raw.

    (Nice plug for Tales, Lee)

We are all part of the LP family anyhow. I must admit I never expected to be a monopoly in this segment that is for sure.

Some of my favorite issues were on the FaL dark rides when they described (and often had pictures of) the pre-'83 versions, and compared them to the current versions. It was like being able to ride the old versions again, and it was great. Same with rides like the various versions of the Mine Train.

Great job, Janzen brothers! You brought a lot of smiles to a lot of people. Thanks for the memories, literally.

When I renewed I ordered a bunch of old issues - looks like I got lucky as that was my last chance.

The HM articles were especially great at revealing that, even those these attractions are so epic and nearly-perfect, the process involved in getting there is very human, very organic. Loved it!
