Anyway, what I wanted to tell you about was the early closing at 3 o'clock in the afternoon for the Main Street Bakery. All I wanted to do was go and get myself something low-cal and sweet--since I'm on a diet--

    ORGOCH: --What?!

ORWEN: Was I talking to you? Anyway, there was a cast member standing outside the closed doors to the bakery, saying that there was an early seasonal close for the day. Can you imagine that? Especially when it was so busy?
And especially when it was Mamorial Day!

ORDDU: I'm sure you meant to say Memorial Day, dear. Anyway, Orwen found out, later, that the real reason they Bakery on Main Street had closed down earlier than usual was due to a shortage of cast members to run the place. At least this is what OTHER cast members were telling her when she inquired.

ORWEN: So, is Disney World really facing the same problem that Disneyland has out in California? A shortage of cast members to staff the stores especially during holidays?! Perhaps some of you sweet little goslings who work there might know the truth?

She now realizes that a witch only gets one of those on Mamorial Day--which can be any day of the year.

ORGOCH: See what comes from havin' ta live with a dummy who eats so many sweets she's got twinkies fer brains?!

ORDDU: Anyway, I'm sure Orwen would have come back to say she wishes you all had a meaninful Memorial Day, instead--if only she weren't so embarrassed...

The only way to get more CMs is to raise pay ... significantly ... not a dime or a quarter.

If WDW minimum wage went to say $9 an hour tomorrow, the staffing issues would disappear ... but almighty institutional investors (who are souless anyway) would revolt, the stock might drop a dollar and we couldn't have that.

    So the disaster continues.

Meg should have gotten her boney, old butt out and called in Team Disney execs from their Windermere and Bay Hill BBQs if that's what it took to have the bakery open.

    What a complete joke.

    These are WalMart caliber execs.

And if it is, is it about the bottom line or the image of what a Disney park should be? I didn't state that well but hopefully you can read into it and make an answer...I personally have always wondered why it seemed that DL and WDW seemed to be in such competition with each other...Initially I thought that the Disney company would make sure that both parks would be equals(sp?)...Obviously not the case these days...It's all very sad when you think about the rich legacy that the Disney name means....Regardless, I am greatful that the name Disney is still around...It could have vanished years ago...

Raise it to $10.00 an hour, and you could go back to being picky about who you hired.

Oh. Sorry. Not the part about someone winning the lottery and the money running out. Or the parts about minimum wages or stock prices or silly names for execs.

    I just feel very bad for Orwen that she didn't get her triple-chocolate, fudge-filled, choco-caramel-topped, nut-sprinkled, mouse-shaped low-cal brownie.

(And sorry for everyone else who was in the immediate vicinity when she found out the shop was closed.)

I hope you don't have to face this horrible situation again, girls!
