Think of El Rio as a smaller scale It's a Small World type experience for Mexico, and Maelstrom as a fun little jaunt into Norwegian culture, including a fun physical surprise.

At the end of Maelstrom, Norway's indoor fishing village/film queue area is really nice. The backrests on the theater benches give a great back massage.

But I kinda like the look of Mealstrom. Maybe they could can the character dining and re-name the Norweigan buffet.

We ride almost every time we go. Maelstrom is a better dark ride (a "D" ticket if you know what that means) and definitely worth going on but you can usually expect a line. Try to fastpass if you can.
