Jonvn... you are so danged crude. We oldsters don't go around eating raw meat. We would cook it up nicely on the George Foreman before sitting down to our snack.

You're right. We BOTH know what terrible airline I am flying in First for FREE for my first trip to the Asian parks in '08!

I just hope no obnoxious flight attendent bumps his damn service cart into my legs.

True. There are some folks I wouldn't mind hearing that they offed themselves, but no online twit comes even remotely close.

Oh well.. it's FREE, so no complaining about bad food or poor quality personnel. I can only hope your personal FREE in-seat video on demand system is not broken at your seat. It will be a long 13 hrs to Asia without that little gizmo..which sometimes the crew can turn off at will, if needs be.

I heard that because Kirk Cameron really liked the gates they are going to keep them up for the next hundred years because of how spiritual they are!

I went ahead, and put that in to save the moderator the trouble. It would have been inevitable.

    What a butt-ugly, vacant-brained design decision.

There are at least several alternatives that could have functioned better and complimented the surroundings with more grace and perhaps even enhanced the surroundings.

Planters spring to mind immediately. Perhaps a mix of those and waterwalls.

But this thing - this stupid, coarse barrier - in design terms, it's vulgar, and in practical terms, it's just pretty freakin' moronic.

EPCOT's entrance was designed long before anyone envisioned the high throughput of guests on buses and/or monorails. It was largely designed to be accessed by people entering via the parking lot because that's where the majority of guests were coming from in 1982.<<<

Well that's a ridiculous overstatement. I was there in 1982 and quite a bit in the park's early years. There were huge crowds coming in daily from the monorail right from the start, and from buses and hotel shuttles as well. No, they didn't have the whole Disney shuttle thing going, but there were lots of people coming in from all directions, not just from the parking lot.

PR security that reminds the non-ignorant about how unsafe our world truly is ... and inconveniences everyone ... and ruins the entrance area ... and just plain sucks.

But I'm sure Disney Legal went over various 'doomsday' scenarios and feel this is the best way to limit liability in the event something horrific happens.

Epcot used to have an open flow area at the entrance with bag checks at the turnstiles themselves.

I must say, with the new bag checks centralized i have spent less time waiting at the turnstiles - and since i dont carry a bag, i dont get stuck at bag checks. It works for me!
