Leaving a show or movie that your not intrested in is a universally accepted practice. Even I have walked out of movies before. And it is not the guests fault that exiting CoP is shutting down the ride or making scenes restart. They just want "out". Why not let them "out"? This is when a Disney manager takes cast members aside and explains that Walt never intended CoP to be a prison.

I am sure the castmembers are required to verify it is safe to continue the movement and re-start. I know they also have continual shutdowns on the PeopleMover because somebody decides to stand up or throw their trash out. This requires 2 castmembers to run thru the entire ride circuit to guarantee safety everytime, thus shutting it down frequently. Once again inconveniencing the guests that have listened to and obeyed the safety spiel. The attention span nowadays is not conducive to running a theme park apparently unless the guest is buckled and harnessed! I will hope to appreciate as much as I can on my next visit because this behavior in a lawsuit mentality only foresees the end of CoP and probably PM. On the otherhand the castmember sounds desperate and it would have been almost scary to remain seated!

No, THAT's when Disney managers give you the evil eye and explain to YOU what you have just done and the attractions safety procedures. LORD.....Please dont do to MK and save the CMs from you jumping out of something moving...

I don't think it's grounds for termination and think he could probably be talked to.

I guess if they had one of those 50's warnings circa Monster Movies....Warning You will not be allowed to enter after it begins or leave the theatre and you will be scared out of your mind with the final stage set. So sit down & buckle up!

If I was not so familiar with the show I probably would be be tempted to leave also. Who wants to take bets on this attraction being shuttered very soon after the Holidays?

CoP was moved to Florida as the original sponsor General Electric (GE) wanted the show to be seen by a new audience at the Florida park.

Cop had already moved to Florida and (working from memory here) I think the building had become "America Sings" or something like that. Walt was already long dead. It is a a very good argument for keeping the audience seated though. I have seen idiots leaving at all different stages of the show. If they had a CM riding the show all the time I would think they could set it up so only the CM could open the doors so if anyone had a GOOD reason to leave in the middle they could be let out safely. The last few times, at least, they left before the show started. Right out the door! No wonder the public thinks they can do that as well. Otherwise, they got on the ride and they won't die if they have to sit through it anymore then they do during HM or PoC. Leaving at any other point is self-centered, dangerous, rude and stupid.

One camera was located right before the first drop (by the "dead man tells no tales" scull). Young teenage guests would want to stand right before the safety gate would open. OMG - the ceiling clearance is really low and there is a chance they can get knocked off the boat! Once a boat of teenage boys would not sit - Calmly and clearly - I announced "For your safety, please remain seated" - They would not. So I had to hit the emergency stop button and again said to them "Please..For your safety, please remain seated" - the boys looked at the camera and gave me the finger - By this time the boats at the load position are backing up - I calmly said that if they didnt sit down we would have to call security. They finally sat -just after I took off the emergency stop function and the boat was going down the drop, they stood up! Security was waiting for them at the end of the ride. But I do know I did all I could do - so if they did get hurt - it was their own fault. My only gripe about this CM at CP is that he should not of raised his voice. But I felt his frustration.

I let them know that they had to stop what they were doing, proceed to the doom buggies or I will get security. They muttered some names and got up and got on the ride. I still laugh to myself about that! We should have a thread about us former CM's and our guest stories.
