In other words, why denounce the wearing of the American Flag as if it were some false symbol of patriotism? Or, what I disagree with more, the idea that one "side" or another has a monopoly on the symbolism of the flag.

Look at how many people started wearing yellow wrist bands to support Lance Armstrong. Then suddently you get green wrist bands, brown wrist bands. I think the problem here is how certains behaviors become fads. You also want to keep in mind that many people who work in DC were told they had to wear an American Flag pin on their lapel. I'm sure that Obama was told to wear one. And I have a big problem with government telling me what to wear. Finally, I thin Patriotism is a very personal thing. How I may choose to demonstrate my Patriotism may be very different than how someone else would. I just see this whole episode as much to do about nothing. If your going to be angry with Obama ( and I'm certainly not one of his supporters ) at least give him the chance to talk about why his actions. Some of us may not agree with him or his actions, but the guy has a point.
