He wants to get a one room suite for his mother and the two kids, and an additional room for himself and his wife. If I remember correctly, a two bedroom suite is actually a little less expensive and is an adjoining extra full room opening onto a one bedroom suite. At least it was when we got one at the GCH. Does anyone know if it's the same thing at the DLH?

So I think that's what I will suggest, as well as perhaps concierge service. If they all count as one room, a two bedroom suite, then the food and convenience would be worth it!

Now I get to have the fun of planning a trip with a four year old girl who loves princesses! YAY! I'm sure I will have more questions soon about Build a Bear, The Princess Fair, Ariel's Princess breakfast, and all the other little girl things I've never done. (I'm skeptical about Libby Lu, this girl is naturally adorable and at 4, I'm not sure makeup is the best plan. But glitter in the hair and a pretty french braid or something I could go along with. I'm just not sure her mother would appreciate her being in a place where girls not much older than her are getting rock star makeovers.)

We've been here since Sunday. It has been very satisfactory. Since we arrived early our requested room (on the south side of the building) wasn't ready. They had a room ready on the north side (closer to the train tracks), but IMO its not an issue.

Since its an extended stay motel maid service is only twice a week.

I am still waiting for final dates, but I'm reading the Froder's Guide for Disneyland (and Southern California) with kids, and I'm getting really excited.

So many new things to consider, strollers, cribs, oh my!

I ordered a Mickey and Friends visit Disneyland coloring book for my little niece and a Disneyland Sing Along DVD.

I've never been with kids, and I think it will be a lot of fun, especially as her mother and grandmother will both be there to do the hard work and I get to be the fun aunt, ha ha.

My brother in law recently explained that they really needed either two adjoining rooms or a suite, as their children, ages 3 years and 6 months in April, will need to be able to nap and it wouldn't be much fun to have to stay in the same room silently. They need another room where they can chat, watch tv or whatever, and still be close to the sleeping kids. I have no kids, so I thought two rooms on the same floor would be ok, oops. Just to be clear, there will be three adults, my brother in law, his wife, and my mother in law. I didn't think a 3 year old and a 6 month old could just have their own room somewhere, but I didn't get that it would be no fun for the adult watching the kids not to have somewhere to be while they are napping where they don't actually have to be in the same room, but could leave the door open and chat quietly, or watch tv.

But now, the DLH is saying that a one bedroom suite could accomodate 6 or 7 people! Before they told me they only had suites for 4. The suite has one bedroom with either a king size bed or two queens plus a daybead, and then a queen size sofa sleeper in the next room. The room would be about 740 square feet. I think that if I brought them a microwave, with the small fridge that comes with the room, they would be OK.

However, for about half the price, they could get a suite at the Park Vue that has a kitchen with stove, oven, microwave and fridge, a bedroom with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa in the living room, and they could then get an additional room with two queen beds. This is cheaper about half the price for the suite and the additional room than for the one bedroom suite at the DLH, gives them more room, and includes a kitchen, which is great.

But I am scared of the reviews I see for the Park Vue online. They mention roaches (often), thin walls, dirty floors, and bad service. Not having ever been there, I just don't know what to expect. The reviews are better for the Park Vue than most of the hotel/motels within walking distance.

Hojo's has no available suites on the dates we want, and can't guarantee adjoining rooms.

I guess all I can do is give my relatives all the information I have, the good and the bad and let them make their own choice.

I wish I could go to DL before they get here to tour various hotels/motels myself!

I think the TownPlace Marriot you are referring to is on South State College Blvd? They won't have a car, but I guess the shuttle service could be possible.

I was pretty much limiting my thinking to Harbor Rd hotel/motels and those onsite.

The map does do a good job in giving you a sense of relevancy. Some things you can factor in is like if I remember right with the Best Western you can cut Timon's parking lot and take the tram in cutting a bit the walk into the park. Personally, anything within .5 miles of the gates is game for me.

I seem to remember that the price is comparable to getting two rooms, but if you're planning on getting concierge, the fee only applies once. There is only one bathroom, though. You should verify this with a hotel reservation CM, because I might remember something wrong. If you're interested, we'll be staying in one later this month. I can probably give more details when I return.

So I had the idea that we should get a two bedroom suite and my husband and I would take the extra bedroom. We were always planning on being there at the same time, but figured we would add our room later as it wasn't so difficult to plan with only two of us and no kids.

But because my awesome husband is so happy his family is coming out here, he's happy to pay what a regular room would cost, plus the difference in price from a one-bedroom suite without concierge to a two-bedroom with.

This saves my relatives from Australia about $500 off the 1 bedroom suite rate, and we all get concierge, which I think is well worth it for seven people. (5 adults, 2 kids ages 3 years and 6 months.)

I looked into the themed rooms as well, and they look absolutely lovely. I guess I had thought that there might be more room with a suite than with one of the themed rooms, as they seemed a bit smaller than the living room area with the queen sized sofa bed that you get with the suite.

A few years ago, a bunch of us stayed in a three bedroom suite at the GCH, and my brother was on the queen sized sofa bed. It looked comfortable, much better than the old spring-y sofa beds I remember from growing up. He said it was great, but he can sleep on the floor with a jacket as a pillow and not complain, hee hee. Anyone with personal experience on one of the DLH's queen sized sleeper sofas out there?

My question is this. If it were me, I would say Mother in law in one queen bed, niece 3 in the other queen bed and baby in crib in one bedroom. My mother in law is coming as the official babysitter, sot that BIL and SIL can have some time together alone on occaision, which is why I thought of this room configuration. Then we would have Brother in Law and Sister in law on Queen sized sofa bed. But maybe, if the adults want real beds, then mother in law in one Queen size bed, BiL and SiL in the other in the one bedroom, kids in the living room? I guess there are a few options here, and they will need to figure them out.

I guess that part of it is up to them, but they thought they would be ok in a one bedroom suite, so maybe it will be. If they decide that they need a two bedroom suite, then my husband and I could bump it up to a three bedroom suite. I know they had those at GCH, but never checked at the DLH.

Another nice thing is that I think by booking a two bedroom suite with concierge, I am almost sure we would be in the Dreams(?) (is that the one closest to the big Mickey Wizard Hat with the lounge?) tower, and would be able to use the concierge level elevator to get to our rooms, which is always sort of a nice perk at the end of the day.

    : )

We are certainly not saving much money with this plan. But they seem to really want a "resort" vacation, and I can't say I blame them at all! With the stipulation that we are staying onsite, I think we are doing pretty well in getting some value for our money, and making sure everyone will be comfortable.

They don't travel to the states that often, and this will be my Sister in Law's first big vacation since the birth of our niece three years prior, and with the new 6 month old, I am glad she will be in a nice hotel where she will be able to relax and hang out in the lounge, by the pool, wherever.

I sent them all lots of links, including the one above (thank you gottaluvdavillans) to give them an idea of where all the various hotels I was suggesting were, but they really seemed to feel that it would be much more convenient and less of a risk to stay onsite.

I can't wait till we actually book the room, nothing makes me happier than knowing I have a room at the Disneyland Resort waiting for me!

This is really weird, because a couple other people had quoted me concierge with the suite in the past week. I'm calling back again, but I'm starting to panic a bit that now that my relatives have decided on what they want (almost) it won't be available.

I'm going to keep calling back to see if the difference was maybe in my saying 5 adults 2 kids now, instead of three and 2 like I did before? And then maybe adding my husbands and my room separately or something.
