Good info about getting there too early; you do have to get there early, but you do want to try to get as center as possible. But with the stadium seating, center covers a lot of territory. ºOº

Much better and tighter version over MGM's, and you can't beat seeing the Columbia dressed up as Captain Hook's ship with acrobatic performers and Peter Pan "flying" all over the ship. Pure Disney MAGIC. At MGM? You dig and dig and dig!!! Yawn! Anyways... for MGM's, best seating is the dead center, I think it's Mickey's section, possibly within the first 20 rows from the stage. Just plan on being stuck there for a while once the theater empties out. Not all that well planned to move people out expeditiously after each performance, reason why some guests are rude and start walking out after Maleficent is dispatched, blocking the view of those in the upper seating areas.

In fact, after having *finally* seen the FL version of F! this July, it'll be years before I consider seeing the one in FL again.

Originally Posted By TDLFAN >>I didn't see it being 'miles' above MGM's<< That's because they are *apart* in miles.
Originally Posted By MrToadWildRider I've never seen the DL one but I have to say I think Fantasmic is overrated at MGM atleast. They use those stupid water projection screens way too much. It's a neat effect but geez do they really have to cut in and out of live action to show Ursula laughing, or any number of other little interruptions for that matter, on a big water screen or little clips from animated features? It also seems like the seating is so far from the "stage" I posted something like this in the MGM guide for Fantasmic and gave it a 2/4. I'll admit to the same possible biases I suffer in this case though - 1) I've never been really big on Disney shows but among them this is one of the better/best ones I've seen and 2) Hype plays a big role in how well I like something. Fantasmic is hyped so much everywhere - everyone raves about it being the best thing they've ever seen. I was almost expecting them to resurrect Walt Disney on stage and have O.J. come out and say he did it I heard such hype over this. My expectations were so high when I saw it I felt cheated. (I think the same thing happened to me on Mission:Space) It's over and I just thought to myself "Wow!...that was it?" Please don't get me wrong it is a great show and like I posted on my review it probably deserves atleast a 3/4 (maybe a 4/4 if you're JUST considering Disney Shows but I don't like doing that) but because I had such high expectations I think I will always view this show as lackluster.
Originally Posted By TDLFAN >>They use those stupid water projection screens way too much<< Exactly. One reason why I don't care for MGM's version. At DL, the show does use the water screens as well but not as much and for such long extended periods like MGM's. >>It also seems like the seating is so far from the "stage"<< Yes, that is right..and the theater seating does allow for people to stand up and fie out before the show is over so the rude ones block the view of the finale for those who remain seated till the end. At DL, the show is more intimate and you are way closer to the action.

But at DL, it truly is (as you put it) a 4/4, just like most shows and parades are at TDR. MGM's F! is definitely a 2/4, and Cinderellabration is a 1/4. I like your rating system.

If I had the choice bewteen fun and jaw-dropping, I would take the second. There is just something about having the show on a river that by day is in the middle of the frontier and by night is a spectacular dream that just can't be recreated in a theater built specially for it. From the way I see it, yes, there are some more live action parts in DL, but it is the magical transformation that takes the area that is so unassuming during the day that I find so amazing. Especially considering the great lenghts gone to hiding all of the different things daily and then bringing them out for the show, when they could have simply closed the island for the show. It is fine at MGM, but truly amazing in DL.

As in DL's F!..the pirate ship, Jungle Book sequence, and the real Mark Twain full of Disney characters in a bright finale you can almost touch with your fingertips. MGM's F!? Boring and overdrawn, like some Broadway shows of today.
