Instead of the Mark Twain Riverboat they have a small boat representing Steamboat Willy. There is also much more villains in the WDW version. There seems to be a consensus that the Disneyland show is a little better in quality, but that it is nice to have the seating of WDW.

Well, almost. The way to the amphitheater is from the Tower area. But it's still a pretty good walk. The actual show location is closer to the boat landing.

The use of the Columbia at DL is just marvelous. Wish we had one.

In and of itself this is ok, but if you've seen the Mark Twain in the show in Disneyland the difference is quite noticeable.

But then if the DL show weren't on the Rivers of America where the Mark Twain and Columbia already are, it would probably be different too.

    >>There seems to be a consensus that the Disneyland show is a little better in quality, but that it is nicer to have the seating of WDW.<<

    This is true.

Of course, then they don't get you going past shops on the way out but it would save a lot of walking, particularly late in the evening for the little ones.

It begins after the Monstro projection section, and it begins with a cannonshot from the island. When the lights come up, Ratcliffe is on the island with his men, and he claims the land in the name of King James. It starts with the "Mine, Mine, Mine" song from Pocahontas, and segues into the Native Americans paddling across the water in their canoes. Then the men on the island fall under attack by the Natives, including arrows & small explosions, and men falling from the mountain. We then see John Smith climbing up the mountain, followed by Pocahontas appearing near the top of one side of the mountain. Grandmother Willow then appears in a waterscreen projection, and then the colors of the wind "sweep" across both John Smith & Pocahontas on either side of the top of the mountain.

I know it's not the most popular thing among some Disney fans, but I really love the Pocahontas segment and WDW's Fantasmic (I haven't seen DL's yet), and I'm so looking forward to seeing it in 16 days!

DL's version features Monstro and Hook in somewhat minor roles, and Chernabog, The Evil Queen/Hag, Ursula and Maleficent as the main threat.

WDW's version features Ratcliffe in the minor role, whereas Chern, The Queen, Malef and Ursula are joined by... Jafar, Scar, Frollo, Cruella and Hades.

And judging by the WDW Fantasmic soundtrack, the Villains' death medley must've been impressive. I've got to see that show when I go next time. :)

The only good thing I can say is the music is great (a given), and the seating makes life easier.

DL's version for me is head and shoulders above WDW's. When in Florida, I almost always spend my evenings in Epcot!!!

Nothing's ever a waste. All experiences give you something and teach you something.

It all happens on the mist screen and just delays the ending. They do rely on the mist screens to much at WDW. The show is actually a litttle longer and it feels that way.

There is way too much reliance on filmed segments, and way too much cutting back and forth between 10 second live sections and 10 second film sections. It's just choppy. And the payoff of the Steamboat Willie boat just doesn't hold a candle to the mighty Columbia.

If you (like me) grew up on the DL show, you're probably going to be disappointed. See it, though, and judge for yourself.

I'm sure you meant The Mark Twain as the Columbia is not the finale but use in the Peter Pan section.

But the DL version is still much better.

Didn't we discuss this like some weeks ago on another topic??
