With Riverside, it's essentially first come, first served. IIRC, the check in time is around 7pm for the night. Even if you have tickets for the 10:30pm F! show, you choose your seats at 7pm -- both shows are lining up at the same time. People start lining up there up to an hour early to check in. It's insane!

As far as the desserts being good, I would say they are. Deciding if it's worth it is up to each individual. We like to enjoy the reserved seating every couple of years for a treat, but certainly don't want or need to do it each trip. You get a box filled with goodies...really more than the average person can eat. Last time we did the F! seating (about a year ago), each box contained two each of chocolate covered strawerries, mini-Mickey krispy treats (with a milk & white chocolate Mickey face), jam-filled sugar cookies, biscotti, and I think one more item that I'm not recalling at the moment...snickerdoodles, maybe. So, you are sent away with leftovers to enjoy later. The extras make a nice breakfast the next morning.
