There's three parts .. each part .. about an hour long.

The best chronicle on Tomorrowland's history I've ever seen.

I think the main thing that was holding them up .... was the technology to create Space Mountain was just not quite there yet. And Carousel of Progress was not even part of the original layout for the land. I think GE expressed their interest in transplanting their Disneyland show sometime in 1972. I can only come to that conclusion .. because it was the summer of 1972 when Al Bertino and Marc Davis came up with the idea for America Sings, as they knew GE was getting ready to leave Disneyland's carousel theater empty.

So .. as far as the development of the land was concerned ............
I don't think they knew what was going to ultimately take shape till sometime in 1972. Meanwhile ... the circle-vision and Flight to the Moon buildings had these funny looking ends sticking out above .... which was part of the track for Peoplemover which would not open till 4 years after the park opened.

Imagine for a moment .. it's 1969,1970 .... architects had to have something solid on paper .. as construction HAD to get underway. They had a peoplemover lined up ... a Rocket Jets lined up .. but the other pieces to the puzzle were not in place. So here comes October 1, 1971. And the best they could do was a land that was only 1/4th complete.

And it would take all of 1972,1973,1974 to develop and construct the rest.
