Unfortunately, "X" was the first coaster Mr. Alice and I rode on our first (and probably only, though I'd LOVE to go just for "X2") visit together to SFMM. It absolutely rocked, and we were totally jazzed and ready to go nuts through the park when it was finished. But we followed it quickly with "Viper," which was the favorite of me and my friend Cathy - when I was younger and less prone to whatever motion sickness it delivered to me when Mr. Alice and I were there. I know Viper was MUCH rougher than in the past - which happens to older coasters. It knocked the heck out of my head - back and forth smashing - during every inversion. My "constitution" ain't what it used to be, I'm afraid. I had to sit for about 1/2 hour after that, and after each subsequent coaster the rest of the day. I couldn't really enjoy myself because every ride was a near-barf-run (I never lost my cookies though, thankfully.) Mr. Alice and I decided to forget about SFMM for the second day we'd planned and drove south 65 miles to Disneyland instead. Since that SFMM visit, I've ridden "Screamin'," but it affects me more than it used to - might be psychological. (I'd probably be better off without LVBelle's Bunny Hops... I hate what airtime does to my stomach - what a coaster doof I am! Who doesn't love airtime?? *LOL*) I'm going to give Screamin' another shot in December and see how it goes. Haven't been on it now for about two years. Space, Matterhorn, BTMRR, Mulholland Madness still rock my boat... No motion sickness on those - just FUN! And wasn't THAT way more than you even cared to know about my coaster fave? ;-)

I was sure the thing was purposely named the MaDhattan Express. Guess that must have been the result of having my brain scrambled by those nasty inversions. Okay. Alls I really know is that I first rode it -- in the front seat -- with my little sister. And that we both grew up on Cedar Point. And that when we got off we both turned to each other to exclaim, "That is the first time I have EVER involuntarily screamed on a roller coaster!" <<Hey, I-57 I may get up to CP sometime this season, how close do you live? I'm not sure I can get down there this summer -- but if you're going to be in the area, please let me know! Put-In Bay is a quiet, pastoral, pleasant little place during the day -- and an alcohol-fueled happening place by night. It's great if you're looking for Redneck Party Central in the evening, or if you're going to spend the night on your boat.

For steelies, Dueling Dragons at IOA and Nemesis at Alton Towers in the UK are my fav (I love suspended coasters). For theming, nothing can touch Space Mountain al la Terre de la Lune at DLP. Sadly they killed it and ruined it with Mission 2 :-(

Oh, and for wood there is NOTHING that ever came close to the old Paragon Park Coaster (no name that I'm aware of) in Massachusetts. That sucker was scary, rickety, beat-the-crap-out-of-you rough, and just the coolest old school coaster experience ever (anyone else been on it?). Paragon Park is long gone, but I think they actually moved the coaster someplace else (for a while?).
Originally Posted By brotherdave Yes they did! The Paragon Park Giant Coaster was moved to a park called "Wild World" in Largo, MD, just east of Washington, D.C. It's interesting to note that the park's current name came shortly after Disney announced their "Disney's America" project in nearby Haymarket, VA. Coincidence??? I don't think so... Anyway, the Wild One is still a great wooden coaster. (About the only reason to visit this park, imho, along with the park's other wooden coaster, "ROAR!" and the steel hypercoaster, "Superman: Ride of Steel".) It needs a little TLC to smooth out some rough spots, but, it still gives a decent ride. It's too bad the rest of the park is so poorly maintained and extremely lackluster.
