Not everyone who is released from prison is a repeat offender, or has a history of violence, or is a sex offender. The other issue is, is it legal to forever hold a past offense against them? Murderers today seldom get a life sentence. Something of this nature is a difficult position for any perspective employer. How do you folks feel about this, providing Disney has or will hire ex-convicts?

"A lot of them have been in and out of prison. They don't know how and where to find jobs," said Karen Massey, workforce development coordinator for the Metropolitan Orlando Urban League. Businesses at the job fair will include Walt Disney World Resort, DoubleTree Hotel, Advance Auto Parts, Angle Truss Inc. and Architectural Sheet Metal. Once out of jail, felons often have problems finding work because of their criminal records, Massey said. Often, even the lowest-wage, easiest-to-attain jobs have the strictest guidelines with background checks, she said. The job fair is aimed at businesses willing to give ex-convicts a second chance. "All the employers who are coming out are at least willing to look at ex-offenders on a case-by-case basis," Massey said. About 20 businesses and agencies are scheduled to participate in the job fair that is expected to attract 100 to 200 job seekers. The fair is sponsored by the Central Florida Offenders Workforce Development Team comprised of the Urban League, Orange County Corrections, Goodwill Industries, Workforce One Stop Career Center, and the Wayne Densch Center.

That said, I feel that for unjustifiable reasons, I came under fire for challenging him. The excuse was, you don't know him. So? That's no excuse for rudeness. If you notice something, there has been a dramatic improval in his tone towards people. I welcome talking with him now, no matter how much I disagree. The disagreement is mutually civil. Who could ask for more? Regarding the "gay days" topic.... I began to see some ugliness sufacing. That ugliness had the flavor of another public forum. The people on this forum are of better caliber than that. I would like to see this forum stay happy & civil, not unlike that other forum. That's why I tried to put it to bed. There was no intention of being "The new sherriff in town" like one poster put it. Which gave me a good laugh. Be civil with me, and you have a friend. I hope this clears the air between us. I'm usually easy going.

But I also remember basically telling those who were here before that this could turn into the board you reference above with all it's nastiness/vulgarity and biases, and for reasons you list above ( a more civil class of people here ) I said it had not and would not happen. I don't believe locking horns with another poster changed the overall tone of this board -- it was civil before and is still civil now....but of course that is just my opinion. Much like you, I call em as I see em, but always try to do so in a civil manner.

Remember, there are many behind the scenes jobs at the world where employees never come in contact or have to interact with guests. i'm sure disney won't put a sex offender in a tigger costume

I have not seen it since so either I was wrong or else it was just a one time deal - or some combinaion of both since I know you had an issue with another poster. That is why I made the comment I did. Since then I have not seen the same so all water under the bridge and we have been on the same topics without issue ....so no issue from me. Just thought I'd address again why I made the comment I did since you brought it up, as the comment was made somewhat tongue in cheek but wanted to get your attention as to the fact I felt that way and I do believe so did a few other regular posters at the time. <<I am an ordinary person who just wants to be spoken to in a civilized manner<< All we all want I believe and what keeps this board ( except WE) more civil than most I believe
