We are leaving in 12 days (SO EXCITED) to take our two year old on his first trip to Disneyland! My husband and I have been bantering back and forth about what should be his first ride. He says Pirates and I am leaning towards Pooh. We are going to be arriving in the park around 11 or 12 on a Saturday so I know wait times for some rides will be long. I just don't want to scare him on his first ride so he will be afraid for the rest of the trip. Any thoughts?

I vote for either one of those two.

If I could do it again we would have done Dumbo, and Storybook Canal boat rides and the train and the merry go round first so that she wouldn't have been scared.

She didn't even make it into the Tiki room because she got scared by Pele outside!

She loved Astro Orbiter though, we rode it nine times in a row during early entry one morning, ha ha.

I think it will really depend on the child, she was three and a half at the time.

She just recently went to her first movie in a theater (Tinkerbell) because she really doesn't like being in the dark.

I can't wait until 2013 when she and my nephew (who was six months during our last trip) come back again! He's already a little daredevil, and by then I think she'll be up to at least trying out stuff like the Tiki room. : )

I like the canal boats idea, I think we will love that. We are going to ease into the dark rides I think, maybe start with Pooh which seems the least scary to me then maybe Peter Pan. I like the You Tube idea too, I am going to do that. I did show him the Christmas Parade on You Tube and he loved it. Has anyone had good luck with the Buzz Lightyear ride and little ones? He loves Buzz but its kind of loud. Also can you take the little ones on Midway Mania and let them sit on your lap?

    My niece liked Pooh.

One thing that was great for her was that we printed out stickers that looked like the CM name tags, and all the princesses, face characters and CMs called her by name for the whole trip! She loved it. The guy who runs this site will make you a free personalized name thing if you're interested, he's awesome. : )

If you're getting there after November 12, I would suggest It's A Small World for the first ride. By then, Christmas will be up, and you'll all enjoy it. It's safe, non-threatening, and right after that you can do Storybook or head over to Toontown.
