Check your daily schedule and the time will be listed. It is a formal flag retreat. When I watched it in January, the Dapper Dans sang as part of the ceremony. Really, really wonderful.

Sometimes you will see a full band, other times strictly recorded music. The Disneyland Band, or All American College Band (in season) may play. I have never seen the Dapper Dans perform, but I am sure they have.

Lately, there has been participation by children and veterans. If you have a veteran in your group, inquire. They may be asked to stand up to represent their branch of the service.

The cast members who conduct Flag Retreat always do so with utmost respect and reverence. It's a moving ceremony, and I do highly recommend it.

Again, the time is listed on the daily schedule you can pick up at the front gate or from any janitorial CM.

My cousin is very patriotic and absolutely loved it, and she was really surprised that she had never heard of it before since it's done every day. I'm not sure if I would call it a must see, but it definately adds a whole new layer to the DL experience that can't be found any where else in the park.

We try to catch flag retreat when we can. Definitely one of the smaller things in the park that many people don't know about that's worth catching.

After the ceremony I got to as many of the veterans as I could and said, "Thank you."

One of my dearest friends is 76 and served in the Army for 28 years. We were supposed to be taking her to Disneyland this month but sadly she broke her arm and we have had to postpone. I so wanted to make sure she got to be recognized at the flag retreat. It would mean so much to her. She loves Disneyland and I know for her it would definately be a must see.

And thanks to all good friends from all countries around the world who come to celebrate with our young country.

They fold also folded the California State Flag in the triangle. I have never seen a flag other than the U.S. Flag folded in this manner in the military or anywhere else. Anyone know if this is correct? Incorrect? I am curious since this was a first for this VN Vet.
