I know it's been a really long time since I've started a topic and about as long since I've been to Disneyland. We are planning a Disney cruise and a trip to Disneyland for our 30th anniversary in 2019. It is far too expensive to plan a Disney approved renewal of vows. We would like to do a renewal on the Mark Twain in the back by the paddle wheel where it is quieter and won't disturb anyone. I just read a post on Dizboards that you can bring in a container that is up to 24"x12"x18". Does anyone know if that's true? I'm wondering if we can bring in our own cake. I also read that you can purchase a cake from Disneyland and have it delivered to a sit-down restaurant. Has anyone ever done that and how much was it?
I cannot answer your questions. Just wanted to say "congrats" on the 30th anniversary. Coming up on our (de facto) 20th ourselves. Ain't love grand?
I would just call and ask. The cake at the restaurant sounds totally doable, it just may cost you about double what a cake would normally be. Have a great time!
Any packages you might be carrying through security would be subject to inspection, and Disneyland does ask that outside food remain outside the gate, at the picnic area that's been there, in the same place, for decades. And as far as restaurants go, lately, I've been doing Flo's in DCA for lunch, and either Plaza Inn or (if just getting a sandwich) Jolly Holiday for dinner. I would not be the least bit surprised if (in addition to full-service restaurants like the Bayou, Wine Country, or Carthay) someplace like Flo's or PI could do a cake delivery, and maybe even someplace like JH. (I'll note that JH can do a special order sandwich with only a slight delay over a standard one.)
We did notice people with rather large coolers this past trip. With the new security checks being outside DTD; the picnic area is inside security. So to take in a picnic or cake or whatever; you have to go through security first. Maybe that is why they were letting in coolers and whole loaves of bread and other things that, previously, were not allowed. With a whole cake I would try to get the okay first as those guards can be sticky one time and relaxed the next.
