Well, neither of us checked the schedule and DD2 had told us the park opened at 9. It opened at 8 so we were 45minutes late and Peter Pan already had a long line. I do not remember exactly what we did but we went on some rides and waited for the rest of the family. DD1, granddaughter, grandson, DH and I rode Space Mt. Then we met up with the rest of the family and went to Toon Town and Roger Rabbit then Small World and the Carousel. Our SIL had arranged a birthday party at Plaza Inn at 2 and we were supposed to check in at 1:30. Due to some communication failure with my SIL and the CM at reservations the surprise part sort of came apart. After we all convinced DD2 that we wanted to have lunch there because we never had (I heard her tell her husband, “My parents aren’t gonna want to do that!â€) we went to check in and then were told to come back in 20 minutes. So all he could do was surprise her with the receipt as she had figured out something fishy was going on. To kill the 20 minutes we decided to take the Omnibus cuz DD1 claimed never to have ridden a Main St. vehicle. I begged to differ with her as when she was younger we always used up our A tickets. The B’day party was a blast. I encourage anyone to do it. We had such a ball and my daughter was a riot doing the parade with all the little kids. And the cake was good. Then we went back to the hotel for naps. DD1 stayed at the parks and became one of those mothers whose kids get too tired. We all got together for the fireworks and had a pretty fair bench on Main St. I feel bad about this part cuz DH and I went around looking for a better place and I had heard that to the left of the castle by Plaza Gardens was good. You should always stay with what you know and we had not done this before. We told everyone they had the choice but they chose to join us and while the view of the castle was good the fireworks were largely blocked by trees. I felt really bad as we have seen the show many times from all over the park and they only had 2 shots at it. We did a few more things and DD1 had to take 2 of her kids to the hotel. Her 5yo had taken a nap so we said he could come with us. That was great!!!!!! We went on Buzz with DD2 and her family. They wanted to walk the shops so we took William on Star Tours. It was almost 11 and he wanted to go to the Jungle Cruise. I told him we would try but might not make it. Well, we made the last boat, just the 3 of us and 2 other people. We had a great CM who said if everyone agreed we could do it without the chatter. It was wonderful. We just cruised the river and it reminded me of when I was a kid and the ride was serious. We talked to the CM about his college plans, history of the ride etc. I cannot imagine a better way to end the day at Disneyland. It gave us quiet time on an attraction and we all wound down. And William was very excited that he got to stay in our hotel room. Even though he fell asleep sitting up on his bed.
