Frozen 3D blu ray release

That's correct. My review should be up on LP sometime this week, but Disney has made no mention of a 3D Blu-Ray release in the US. It will not be available on March 18th when the film is released on Blu-Ray and DVD. They are releasing it in other regions around the world. You can call Disney Home Entertainment (800-723-4763) to voice your concern and let them know you would like them to release it in 3D.

Kennect, you have the right idea that the only way to get Frozen in 3D asap is to import it from a country that has the disc region free (or from Mexico which is Region A and compatible with US players).

skinnerbox, sites like Amazon have become famous for allowing customers to preorder movies while they are in theaters before studios have made any announcements about a release. Most online retailers assumed Disney would release it in 3D and allowed customers to preorder it.

There are rumors that Disney is holding titles to do a mass-release of 3D films in the Fall when sales are higher close to Christmas. The Pirate Fairy is another potential title if this is true, since that was made in 3D and is being released that way in other countries, but not USA.

Phooey! on Disney for throwing the American 3D fans under the bus. Disney was one of the main reasons our household went 3D when it came time to replace our old TV. You helped to push this technology into the theatres and then onto the home entertainment consoles. And now you don't care about American fans? Just the ones overseas?

I understand what you're stating, Alex. And that, to me, is beyond disgusting. Holding back on titles so they can supposedly make more coin closer to Christmas? Families saw the film in the theatres not that long ago. They want to watch it again at home in the near term, not after summer has come and gone and filled their kids' heads with the next latest and greatest animated flick, like Dragon 2 (which looks to be a terrific film based on the latest trailer).

You're idiots, Disney.

You should be striking while the film is still fresh in everyone's minds.

well it is available VUDU in 3D. right now but vudu and my 3D just don't jive. So I went ahead an ordered it from Amazon UK. From what I have read there are a lot people upset about this. Screw Disney.

Is there a chance that there may be another "last hurrah" for Frozen in theaters with a 3D only rerelease at some point? It could then be advertised as the only way to see the movie in 3D until (inset date here). Perhaps with Imax as well or even as an Imax exclusive? Also consider that the film was a much bigger hit than expected. I wouldn't be surprised if deluxe collectors edition video versions are in the works.

JeffG, Disney Movies Anywhere doesn't support 3D, nor does it support HD. The only digital retailers Frozen is available through in 3D are Vudu and the PlayStation store. Neither produce 3D at the same quality as a Blu-Ray disc and both charge more than the disc would normally cost during the first week of release.

Oh I love the format. I have stopped going to theaters to watch these films here at home. the 55" screen is great, cheaper than a trip to the cinema. Gravity 3D here was great.
