Fullerton Arboretum, or other local attractions?

Or, if you have any other suggestions for things to do in the (immediate) area. I live in SoCal, about 80 miles NE, so I'm interested in things that aren't too far from DL, while I'm in the area.

I don't like malls (even DtD) and we're fairly close to the beach at home. But feel free to share sites that others here may be interested in. And I'll report on the Arboretum if we end up going!

If you go, be sure to check out the adjacent Nikkei Heritage Museum, which has exhibits on local Japanese-American history and Orange County history generally.

There's also the Heritage House, which is one of the oldest houses in the city. You may want to arrange your visit to coincide with the tour schedule.

Other local points of interest include the Garden Grove Historical Society's museum, which includes a Disneyana exhibit housed in a barn which was once used as a studio by Walt Disney. The only problem is that the GGHS keeps very limited hours. Maybe the Dlands or somebody else local knows if the place would be open that day? I can't find the info.

Depending on what you're interested in, OC also has the Bowers Museum and the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, Richard Nixon's birthplace in Yorba Linda, and the Fender Museum in Fullerton. There are also plenty of touristy things near Knott's in Buena Park, such as the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.

There's another Walt's Barn? (besides Griffith Park) Interesting. Didn't know about the Fender Museum, that's a possibility, thanks!

BTW, are you blocked out of both parks or just DL? Some of us will be in DCA for part of the day.

It seems that the building in Garden Grove is actually a garage, rather than a barn. Here's a picture of it:

I'm just full of misinformation this morning. I think I should stop posting until I've had more caffeine.
