Of course, critics and the general public doesn't eye-to-eye on most comedies, especially straight forward, silly Jim Carry ones.

Saw the new "2005" remake today ... then bought the original "1976" version with George Segal and Jane Fonda on DVD on the way out, and watched it tonight.

The remake with Jim Carrey definitely packs quite a whollop. The little kid who picked up the hispanic accent and spanish language from the maid was hysterical. The scene where they get the plasma tv out of the house, with the kid screaming was a friking hoot! The newer version is packed with more zippy dialog, quick edits, and some hilarious send-ups we have come to expect from a "Jim Carrey" performance.

    I laughed a lot! A DVD must-have for the near future. :)

And the original with George and Jane, is slightly different .... as it comes off a bit on the "sleepy" side .... (compared to today's standards) ... as the 1970s in general seems to have been some-what of a melancholy era. But still lots of fun after all these years. Looking at the 70s styles provided for half the laughs!
