I know firsthand how much permanent disability sucks, that forces you to stay home all day. 'Stir crazy' is an apt descriptor. If you don't mind me asking, have you or are you going to file for SSDI? Are you still in SF? If yes, I might have some valuable info for you. As to your absence... you have been definitely missed. I hope you can pop in and post from time to time, whenever you can.

SSDI is very painful to get these days, and Oakland DDS has become a warehouse of paper pushers with little training. Too many disabled folks are falling through the cracks and not getting the benefits they're entitled to, that they've paid their FICA taxes for decades to receive. The Bay Area used to be one of the better areas of the country regarding intelligent SSA examiners and ODAR hearing judges who knew what they were doing. That ship has sailed.
