Like Tink77 said, it's great to sit out on the balcony and watch all the action in the District and listen to the music wafting up. On our trip in a couple of weeks, we're going to give the standard view a try to save a little money. We know it won't live up to our favorite DTD, but we are hoping for a view of a garden or courtyard area versus the street. *fingers crossed*

I've looked up to those balconies from DTD and thought it would be fun to be up there. I loved seeing the monorail go by too, cptmemo. My kids and I would wave and see who waved back. I always look to those rooms from the monorail because I want to be one of the "cool people" who wave back, but I've never seen anyone waving to my train.

To the right are the WOD characters and a bit of Disneyland, to the left a bit of DTD. We enjoy the people watching and just being there. It's also the area closest to the stairwell that exits near LaBrea so that's a fun perk Right now we have a Standard View and it's of the Brisa Courtyard. It's mostly tree tops, the monorail goes almost under us and we have a bit of a view of DTD. We have found that when checking in we have been able to switch up our rooms a bit. They'll have a room marked for you but you can ask what floor it's on or what the view would be, then ask if there is anything else available if it's not to your liking. This time we got the room we requested and it was ready at 11:30 ! Have fun!

And no worries about the noise, when the doors are closed, we didn't hear a thing other then fire works.

LOL If you hadn't moved your trip date up, we might have been at DLR during the same week. <<Right now we have a Standard View and it's of the Brisa Courtyard.>> That's what I'm picturing and hoping for with our standard view room in a few weeks, amazed. I've spoken with VP and told them it's hubby's birthday, so maybe there's a chance the birthday note will be in the ressie and taken into account when they assign our room. *Fingers crossed for a good 'standard' location*

We could see the fireworks from our balcony, although not near as beautiful as watching them in the park. Enjoy!!! It's funny, when I checked in the CM said they had upgraded us to a park view room and I said no thanks, we like DTD. I'm sure it's not often that folks decline a room upgrade!
