Laura Mallory, a mother of four, told a hearing officer for the Gwinnett County Board of Education on Tuesday that the popular fiction books are an "evil" attempt to indoctrinate children in the Wicca religion. Board of Education attorney Victoria Sweeny said that if schools were to remove all books containing reference to witches, they would have to ban "Macbeth" and "Cinderella." ========= Heh...my kinda Board of Education (despite the fact there's no witch in "Cinderella"...obviously no LPers are on that Board). They would also have to ban "The Chronicles of Narnia" which are embraced by so many for their Christian hemes, but surely that would never cross her mind... Ms. Mallory, your 15 minutes of fame are up---next!

In the books, more often than not teamwork and straightforward problem solving are used to crack the mysteries, not magic. The logic of the schoolboard memeber may have been such that if the Harry Potter books are banned, than any work mentioning magic or having magical characters would also have to be banned. feh.

It is Harry's love for his parents, and theirs for him, that makes him such a unique and continuing challenge to the evil Voldemort.
