Diamonds and gold in particular. If she doesn't think anyone is going to get her any for Christmas, she goes and buys it for herself. One year she even went so far as to wrap it and put it under the tree with a gift card saying it was from Santa. That woman cracks me up! So what are you secretly hoping for this Christmas?

We tried to have it replaced but evidently the whole thing has to be redone because of wear or some such thing. Anywho, I'd like it all redone and the kids stones put on another ring or necklace. So, yes, I too want diamonds and gold There just never seemed to be a good time to pay for it, first it was 5 sets of braces or some such thing then 4X4 years of college tuition and now I'm back in a ME mode Hey, chickie, maybe it's a grandma thing, yes, that is it, once you are a grandma, it's all about the jewelry! and World Peace Oh, by the way, DH is fully aware of this since it's been discussed since the birthstone diamond fell out He'll probably go with me to the jewelers and then sit outside checking scores and email on his cell phone while I make the decisions on the ring, I will be so surprised when I see what I got!! LOL!!

Um..Ok, I would like family who love to spend time with me and who are there for me when I need help once in awhile. What? Oh yeah, I already have that, too. Ok, ok, ok. Let me think. Oh, how about an PAP for DL? Shoot, have that, too. Hmm. I guess I don't really need anything but a rich husband who insists that I quit my job, takes me traveling around the world, buys me a sporty new Porsche that I can admire in our 8 car garage because I have that Ambercrombie and Fitch model chauffeuring me around to go shopping. Don't worry, sis, I'll have Carter stop by your house on the way to Tiffany's.

There was no one else in the store and I got to talking with the salesman about designing jewelry and using pearls in mixed media. After a while of looking at fabulous jewelry thru the glass, he insisted that I start to try on some necklaces (even when I told him that most of the merchandise was way out of my league). I swear that mikimoto pearls of this quality shine from within like diamonds. Talk about nacre - wow. That store had some HUGE pearls you can't find on their website.

Oh, and the assurance that my job would still be here when I got back!

Ursula and beamerdog, I love your style. Those necklaces are just GORGEOUS. *sigh* If only. When DH and I went to San Francisco last year we went to Tiffany's and oh my. I never really considered myself one for jewelry but I was just gaga in there. I wanted to try everything on, just feel it on my skin. *sigh* Haunts, very good point @ having everything that's *really* important - a good family and a trip to a Disney park. I like your other ideas too though! And no, wahooskipper, sorry buddy but it doesn't ever end. The pendant does sound nice though. I really like the charm bracelet idea. Maybe you could get her a charm of Italy. That she let you go just really impressed me. That's a wonderful woman you've got there. Tink, a mini Cooper sounds fun! Watch, now Shiva is gonna go buy you a little toy mini Cooper as a stocking stuffer. Maybe if you're lucky you'll get one of those that has the super fast "pull-back" action! LOL. A friend of mine actually did buy his wife a mini Cooper. It was adorable. Sadly, she messed up her back and she wasn't able to get in and out of the Cooper so easily anymore and so they decided to sell it and she's back to driving her rig. Trippy, you shop at Overstock.com (aka "The Big O")? Who knew!

LOL!) and it had been her great grandmother's ring. It was gold, kind of tightly braided gold on the edges but the middle section was very wide and the gold was fine and like a loosely twisted lattice. Weaved in between the lattice were the most beautiful round cut clear stones. It's been so long now that I don't remember if they were all diamonds or a mix. I seem to remember them being very pale clear colors. So, apart from world peace (and harsher punishment for parole violators) I would love an indulgence like that ring someday.

That's not too depressing is it? It's not meant to be.
