If you donated to the RNC, your money went to a good cause. Apparently clothes from such low-class places as Nordstrom's aren't good enough. Instead, the GOP spent over $75,000 in a Neiman Marcus.

BTW, if John Edwards got a $400 haircut every week, it would take over 7 years to hit $150 large.

Nope! The campaign, in covering their butts, has already said they will give it all to charity after the election. Girl can't catch a break ;).

And again, I find it funny they keep throwing the 'elitest' label on Obama while they pretend with McCain's 7 houses, 13 cars, private owned jet and Palins $700 a night hotel rooms and now buying enough clothes that can give Madonna a run for her money are still somehow Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sixpack. Give me a break!

I'm glad this news got out though. Now whenever you see Palin (or Cindy) people study the outfits - especially women. Which only serves to undermine her credibility - if she ever had any.

Personally I think they could have saved a bundle of money buy outfitting her at Victoria’s Secret, but I guess that is just me.

"...now buying enough clothes that can give Madonna a run for her money are still somehow Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sixpack."

I would venture to guess that Mr and Mrs Sixpack are actually much more likely to buy something along the lines of Palin's skirtsuits than Madonna's cone bras. Call it a hunch, but I really don't see Palin going that way any time soon. While she may be spending money on clothes for the campaign, I think it's probably neccesary.

Right now, all I can picture is the episode of The Simpsons where Marge buys a Chanel pantsuit and reconfigures it half a dozen different ways when she starts getting invited to formal events. People would be all over Palin if she tried to do the same, but they get all over her for getting different outfits too. I really doubt governing Alaska calls for all that many skirtsuits, and after a while people would complain about her wearing the same thing over and over.

Anybody ever compare the price of pantsuits to men's suits. I think most people would probably find that men's suits are far more expensive, yet nobody seems to be bringing up the fact that the men are most likely spending just as much (if not more) to look snazzy on the campaign trail. I'm sure this same thing would have happened if Hillary was the nominee, which just goes to show that, while some people are out there preaching the wonders of workplace diversity, the majority of the country isn't mature enough to embrace the changes that it brings (and these are the exact same folks who are out there saying that conservatives are biggoted and narrow-minded and can't get past stereotypes).

I really would like to see some documentation of the clothing bills from all the candidates in the race. I would put money on Palin's bill not being the highest.

No one objects to people buying clothes - the objection was one of degree (150 grand!) and the fact that it was paid for by the RNC - which ultimately means paid for by RNC donors. The people raising the loudest stink were regular GOP donors who were saying "that's not what I donated my money for."

Ultimately there are many more important reasons to not favor putting Sarah Palin one heartbeat from the presidency. This is one of those things - like John Edwards $400 haircut - that does get blown out of proportion, but some people take to mean something larger. (And, as someone pointed out, Edwards could get a $400 haircut every single week for the next 7 years and still not spend 150 large.)

Pretty sure the RNC and DNC didn't dish out much (if anything) for the other outfits. Certainly nothing comparable to THIS.

If Palin doesn't have the highest bill (COME ON...a hundred and fifty grand on outfits!?), the only other player in that game "might" be McCain, and only cause the guy is filthy rich and pays 5000 bucks for a tie and 10000 for a pair of shoes if he feels like it (but that DOESN'T get billed to the RNC as far as I know).

Let's get real here...what about her kid and her Gucci handbag (or whatever the brand was)? Does the kid keep the bag? Or are they going to take that away too?
