There is a huge fireplace, and they have a ranger come by at about 7pm and all the kids come down in there pajamas and sing songs, listen to stories and talk about what they did at the park that day. Upon completion of it they get a character cookie form white waters. It's loads of fun and they learn a lot of fun information about the hotel. They give you an events sheet the night before. There's was also a brisk walk around 7 am (i think) around DCA before it opens, dh did this with my dad and enjoyed it. My two kids 4 and 7 loved the pools. There's a big slide and a little slide. The 7 yo (a good swimmer) loved the big slide. The 4 yo still swims with floaterd and loved the little slide. FYI, the slides closes when the lifeguards are off duty. I don't remember the exact time, but it was a few hours before the pool closed. (may be it was because we went in Oct and it was not poeak season, i'm not sure). Have a great time. Don't forget to use vacation planning.

They are theoretically heated to about 80 degrees, but the younger children were all finding them too cold to swim, especially after dark. The temps hit 82-84 degrees last week, and there were some young kids in the pool during those two days, but in the evenings every child under the age of 5 wound up in the hot tubs. Most of them didn't seem to have parents attached and a few of them were even diving (with goggles) in the hot tub :-(

Kind of sad and annoying on a number of levels.
