Well, whatever it's called, my Mom was really wanting to know more about it so I told her I'd ask here. She really rather me call and find out, and I still might, but I told her I was confident in finding good info on here as I've seen this pass spoken of a few times on here lately.

She wants to know first, how do you get one? Does it cost anything? And where do you get one? I told her I believe they have them at City Hall or Guest Services, but not sure. Somewhere on Main Street I figured.

    Thanks so much!

Disney will NOT talk to you on the phone about the individual case, it must be done at City Hall.

You go to City Hall and explain your need, such as you have bad knees and need to avoid stairs. The CM will listen to you and determine, in this case, to give you a GAC with a staircase symbol that you can use at attractions that use stairs to avoid using them.

If you go to City Hall and explain you can't wait in line, and say it is an endurance issue, then the CM will explain they will not give you a GAC and recommend you go rent a wheelchair.

The above are two common examples, but it is a case by case basis, where the CM is trying to match the assistance offered to the issue the guest has.

If a guest has visual or hearing problems, there are guides and devices that can be offered to guests, including captioning and tape recorders with audio descriptions of the park and certain attractions, but once again, no GAC is offered in most cases, though there is one if you need to sit in the front row for vision issues.

Any type of GAC is free (wheelchairs fees apply if needed), and you need to go to City Hall in Disneyland (there is a ramp, if needed, on the north side by the restrooms) or Guest Relations at DCA.

GAC'are much different than the old Special Assistance Pass, the old SAP was a one pass for everyone system.

The new GAC is limited to the specific asssitance needed, for example, the Vision GAC does nothing at any ride, it is only the movies and shows that you will be allowed to enter prior to the rest of the public.

A Stair GAC only lets you avoid a few queues that have stairs, and nothing at most attractions.

    City Hall.

FWIW, a Guest Assistance Card is not required; I push my mom around in a wheelchair and have never bothered to get a GAC.
