    Kerry Offers Apology To Troops
GOP Seizes on Remark He Called 'A Botched Joke'

By Peter Baker and Jim VandeHei
    Washington Post Staff Writers
    Thursday, November 2, 2006; Page A01

Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) issued two apologies for remarks that seemed to impugn U.S. troops and abandoned his public schedule yesterday, but he denounced what he called the "campaign of smear and fear" against him as the surreal sequel to the 2004 presidential election echoed across the campaign trail.

    ---------

Clever joke. Kerry should try using it next time.

'They all laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian. They're not laughing now.'

    Zero mention of Kerry's gaffe.

    Several mentions of Kerry's gaffe.

    Don't answer this too quickly:

Concerning Kerry's issues over the last 48 hours. Which is worse, zero mentions on the Democrat's website or several mentions on the Republican's website?

Why the hell would they mention it on the OFFICIAL DEMOCRATIC web site? Do you think that the Official Republican site listed anything when Cheney shot his hunting buddy? Get real.

I saw a newspaper article yesterday that listed post after post from DEMOCRATIC blogs where democrats were criticizing Kerry. Democrats can and do criticize their political leaders when they blow it. Wouldn’t it be nice if Republicans could do the same thing?

I'm still waiting for Mr. Cheney to explain what he meant last week by 'dunking' suspects being a 'no brainer', as all have said he surely didn't mean waterboarding. It isn't on the official GOP website, and no mention or clarification has been issued by the White House.

The apparent inability to construct a coherent joke, or a subsequent simple apology, could certainly be construed as same.

Incidently, the whole "potato" nonsense was predicated on a flash card, provided by the school, with the word written as "potatoe."

But in the long run, it doesn't really matter what was actually said or done. All that matters is WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if that involves completely misrepresenting what was said or done, nobody really seems to care any more.

Well, not really. They are different skills.

But I will tell you that if the Democrats run another John Kerry in 2008, they really need to be taken apart and rebuilt from the ground up. They are a very broken political party.

You'll correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to suggest that you acknowledge the GOP is knowingly beating up on Kerry for something he really didn't mean to do, no matter how it came out. Not that this type of this is their exclusive domain, but that is what is going on. Don't you think voters can see through that as well?
