I was there for WDW's and the MK's thirtieth anniversary. The hub had more suits, CMs and press than regular guests. It was nice to be there for something so momentous. We spent the evening at EC watching Illuminations and enjoying that park's 19th birthday.

Of course I was also in EPCOT Center today ... and while there's much too be excited about. I can't help but feel a bit sad about all that's gone away.

Listening to a truly amazing seminar by Marty Sklar today you kind of were brought back to the scope and vision of the EPCOT Ideal and what made EC so awe-inspiring in the 80s and early 90s. Marty also showed some artwork and renderings of thing never built and much of it was the first time out of WDI's archives ... this isn't the same stuff trotted out for coffee table books etc ...

BTW, the park was really uncrowded ... reminded me of what Octobers used to be.

A great fireworks show at the end of Illuminations put the stamp on the night, albeit delayed 10 minutes by a downpour.

Can't help but think that departed marketing guru Michael Mendenhall and his (hopefully) soon to be departing boss, Jay Rasulo, missed a great opportunity to make EC's 25th the tentpole of the larger YoaMD. They wouldn't have had to spend much either as, much like DL's 50th, they could have done it largely on nostalgia coupled with the new things of the past few years and a new version of Illuminations themed to all the great attractions they've torn out over the past dozen years ... so it wouldn't have even been costly. But what does one Spirit know?

Oh, and do Inoverherheadmeg's handlers not trust her to be out with the commoners ... I mean guests? It sure doesn't look good when she doesn't show up ... and Erin Wallace and Jim MacPhee are your 'hosts.'
