Has anyone been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Afterward we're probably going to head to Ceder Point, but we want enough time to see the hall of fame.

A few say it's rather expensive; one reviewer recommends getting tickets ahead of time from AAA.

I enjoyed my visit there quite a bit, and it is on the lakefront, so you get one of the more interesting and beautiful views of the city as well.

As a former Clevelander, I can truly recommend the Cleveland Museum of Art for a day trip. Admission to the permanent collection is always free. My favorite parts of the museum are the armor court, the wings dedicated to 16th century French and colonial American fabric and furniture (I love the fully outfitted period rooms), the impressive gallery of Native American art and artifacts, and a beautiful collection of Dutch paintings.

The collection is not huge, but to me this is a plus in a museum, as I tend to feel overwhelmed trying to visit a museum like the Met in NY in one day.

From the Cleveland Museum of Art website:

"Object-for-object, the Cleveland Museum of Art has one of the finest collections in the world. The museum’s collection is spectacular in quality but moderate in size (a mere 43,000 objects), effectively presenting the “cream” of what the largest museums display. From the visitor’s perspective, this means more of the museum can be experienced in a typical visit. The collection is comprehensive and exceptionally balanced, primarily because it was built piece-by-piece by the museum’s professional curatorial staff rather than in large chunks by gift or bequest."

Because it is free, you can stop by to visit for an afternoon and spend whatever time you have.

You will need a car to visit though, it is not near the downtown area, but is located farther down Euclid Avenue, 5 miles east of downtown in University Circle.

If you get hungry, consider continuing a bit farther east to Little Italy; Presti's Bakery used to have the best donuts EVER, but apparently they don't serve them anymore (?!?!?!). I'm sure you can still get some good pizza in the area though.

Honestly, I would visit the area with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the science museum for a quick drive by or look around, and spend your museum time at the art museum for a less expensive and more fulfilling afternoon.

I just wanted to give you another option, and I apologize if I was way off topic.

There are many interactive exhibits where you can listen to music from different eras. I was surprised by how long my kids stay at these exhibits. A lot of it is costume and instrument memorabilia. The top floor always has a "Special" exhibit, and that changes periodically. When we were there it was in honor of Bruce Sprigsteen, but check the website to see who it will be when you go. It was like 20 dollars to get in, but we had gotten some kind of 2 for 1 coupon from someone in the area, it was being offered from a local radio station, I think. So look for discounts on the internet if you decide to go. I got a feeling they are out there.

Right next door is a science museum, and if you are there during baseball season and care to see the Indians play, their stadium is right downtown, probably a 20 minute walk from R&RHOF. There was so much to do in Cleveland we are planning on going back again this summer. We will probably try to fit in the art musuem to see the armour exhibit.
