The Haunted Mansion isn't perfect. And neither is the Carousel of Progress, Peter Pan's Flight, etc. WDW used to be a place where things were constantly maintained and updated. But if no one besides fanboys are complaining, why bother changing what's already there?

No one said it's perfect, but it's in very good condition compared to the others you listed.

If the tests didn't go well (which is what I've heard from all accounts) I really wonder why they decided to push the idea forward. Yah, it's Disney's next cool hip-and-edgy push, but they tested it and it didn't work. I would think that instead of spending the money to completely redo the queue (since we all know how much they like saving a penny or two), they would run another test with the updated queue system before going through construction. For all they hype it's getting, I doubt it.
