Come out to California (I know, easier said than done) and experience an HM that's still being cared for.

That's never going to be the case - WDW is always refurbishing something.

It's unfortunate that it's closed during the summer, but this is what happens when you have an accumulation of needed maintenance that gets deferred on an ongoing basis.

I read somewhere that Disney is getting so much better at marketing the slower seasons that there isn't really a good off season any more. And the HM is such a signature ride that taking it offline any time of the year was going to be bad. They finally decided to take it down during the summer months, where at least everything else would be up and running and able to take up the slack.

I agree with others here that the WDW HM was long overdue for a major refurb. I'm looking forward to seeing it this December!

but trust me-- even last year when I was there, HM was hit and miss as far as getting audio you could hear, the scrims were bad in some places etc... it was great to ride, but felt sad about the state of the ride.

No matter when it's closed (or any attraction) someone is going to be disappointed.

If Triceratops Spin is closed for two days in mid-January, someone's going to be upset because it's their fave ride.

That's the nature of the beast.

My advice to anyone who truly needs to see an attraction(s) in order for their magical WDW visit to be complete: plan ahead. And, even then, sometimes attractions break down.

    It's life.

Well when someone like me can only get down there every five or six years it does kind of suck that it's not open. Now it would suck even more if nothing was working. So I'd rather have them fix everything so that when I return in a few years it's good as new.

I never have any issues if the finished product after they are done is an improvement over what was there -- last time Potc down, and I am hopefully going to partake in a slightly better experience there now...

I would have closed HM at least 3 years ago if I was in charge - so I have no issues.....and improved sound and ending for SSE -- all for it. I will miss both of them, but all in all my visit will not be diminished
