I just hope this movie will not inspire a re-tooling for SOARIN.

I think it actually skews a bit older than some of Pixar's other films. I don't think I'm going to take my 5-year-old to see the movie, not because it is overly scary or has anything really offensive, but because I think most of it will go over his head and he probably would be fairly bored by much of it.

This isn't really a criticism of the film, though. The writing deals very effectively and intelligently with some serious themes. It is a very good film that mixes some very effective comedy and good action sequences with some very moving and emotionally satisfying content.

However, it is rated PG, and I wondered why, until I saw it with a young child sitting behind me (probably 4 yrs) who was crying and freaked out during the scary parts. Then I thought, "Oh, that's why!"

And there are several parts that small kids will really like.
Some of the humor, while not at all risque or dirty, will be understood better by older kids and adults.

Can't wait to see it myself.
