This past Summer my ex became addicted to oxycontin resulting in her being homeless. It took me 5 months and $10,000 to get custody of my kids even though the kids were homeless and living around coffee cans of used syringes. The courts preferred to keep them with her (Homeless drug addict) as opposed to me (professional photographer for a news station who lives in a resort style complex on a golf course). Go Figure!

The odd thing is my life and home has consistantly been stable and healthy but it costs me to get custody but when I finaly get custody she can take me to court over and over with state paid for lawyers and almost get my son who does not want to live with her. I understand wanting the kids to be with the Mom in most cases being that in most cases Moms are better in taking care of children but when the proof shows otherwise it seems they just wont let Dad be the primary custodian.
