[sigh] yesterday a situation came up for work, long story shorter, it's important enough that I need to change my Nor Cal biz trip from next week, to arrange to be there on Friday 2-3-06, Because it's short notice and because I have lots of stuff I need for this meeting, I have to drive up there instead of fly. My wife, being very understanding in these matters said "it's OK just go do what you gotta do, we'll do something when you get home" However guilt and my desire to want to be with my wife on her birthday, plus knowing she loves San Francisco and I'll be fairly close to SF, I decided to take her and teen daughter along with me and then reschedule my original plans for next week to later in the month. So... she asked "well can we have a nice dinner on my B-day somewhere on the way up?" I drive I-5 cuzz it's faster and DD doesn't get out of school till almost 4:00, so I dont want to drive HWY 101, the only place I can think of is Harris Ranch.. anybody ever been to their steak house? I hear it's good. DD and I have eaten at Harris Ranch Kitchen a few times, but I haven't had their steak house menu. My other option is to put off B-day dinner from tomorrow night to Friday night, since she loves SF I could take her into the city. I know there are lots of great restaurants in SF, but yikes choosing and getting in one on a Friday night short notice might be tough. I am open to comments, advice, suggestions thanks in advance

I may try Izzy's retlaw1, SF is not known for steaks [as opposed to Chicago where they have thee best steakhouses] but like Chicago most restaurants in SF are pretty good. After posting my original message, Mrs Thunder said because it would be about 8:00 PM after driving 3 1/2 hours by the time we arrived at Harris Ranch, she'd rather eat in SF. So... I searched around and made a reservation at a place called "El Raigon" which is some sort of South American cuisine, the reviews seemed good and the menu looked interesting, figured I'd give it a try. Mrs Thunder is not much for fish, when I'm in SF without my wife, I usually go for seafood, one of my favorites is "Farallon" cool decor too
