Holy cow - if I could be allowed to be a responsible, law-abiding adult, I'd be all for it!

That sort of attitude does a *huge* disservice to those that have a legitimate medical need for it.

<--wondering if SD may have misinterpreted the post, the way I read it she just meant one would have to pretend they have a medicinal NEED in order to enjoy some pot, whereas I think maybe SD read it as "we have to pretend it's medicinal in order to push for its' acceptance". ??

Every time someone says something like #5, it works against patients with serious medical conditions that could benefit from medical pot, as the detractors would say "See, that's what they wanted all along!"

And even if they personally supported recreational use of pot, to put that above the medical needs of people like suffering cancer patients just isn't right IMHO.

Please note that I didn't comment one way or the other about whether pot should be legalized (or perhaps just decriminalized for personal use) and taxed. My entire reaction here relates to the attempt to tie purported support for medical pot to an actual desire for recreational use.

Basically there is only one place in the world where one can smoke pot lawfully and not face possible criminal retribution..... and Vancouver, Canada is not it.

Perhaps if you were a trafficker or a large-scale grower, you'd still have issues. But I think the average Joe on the street would have very little to worry about should California decide to legalize it.
