I hear macs are still pretty slow when it comes to the cutting edge first person shooter type things, but I've heard of people getting decent results with WOW via Parallels so I guess it just depends what you're playing (and your system).

I would venture a guess that many WinXP/Vista users would be interested if it was available. The only thought that comes to mind might be that it could reduce potential Mac sales. Even if that were true, Apple might make a larger profit on the software than they currently do on the hardware.

They know EXACTLY what kind of hardware they have to support. I think it shows in the stability of the system. Finally, Apple really sees its machines as a premium experience (I'm not saying they're right 100% of the time), so they likely wouldn't take kindly to the idea of running on a $200 no-name system, where the experience could be completely undermined by a generic sound card or a bad third party driver. By controlling the hardware & software, they control the entire experience (for good & bad).

It's just personal preference. I've always felt more comfortable with PC's, that doesn't make them any better or worse. Now that OS X has been around for a few years and MACs are using the Intel processor, I'm tempted to jump back in the pool. I know if I was in the market for a new laptop, I probably couldn't resist the new MacBook Pro.
