I just want to know what to expect. We are taking our 2 1/2yo daughter and 7 and 9yo neices. Unfortunately, there were no kids suites available so we are going to be a little cramped. I now know to plan the trip the minute the "kids do whatever free" promotion starts.

I have also seen that we will be there during spirit week with all of the cheerleaders. Has anyone else been during this week? I am assuming that it will be packed. Any advice on how to plan for it? Thanks!!

It was far from the park, took a good 1/2 hour to get there by shuttle, even though it was only a couple of miles. The room was TINY, the room door hit the bathroom door if it was open. There wasn't a good view, but it wasn't noisy to us, as some have complained. The towels were stained and ripped, there were about 30 teenage boys from a band staying on our floor who were loud at night and kept knocking on our door. Our alarm clock was broken and we called 3 times over a 2 day period to get a new one, no one ever came up then my husband unplugged it and took it to the front desk, where he got yelled at for unplugging it, apparently only "engineers" can do that. My husband was a facilities engineer at Skywalker Ranch, so we thought that was funny. They finally sent an engineer up with a new one. Our safe didn't work, an engineer was sent up to check it, it was broken. 2 lights were burned out in our room. And on the day we drove home, we ate breakfast there. My daughter had strawberry yogurt, she ate half then said it didn't taste good, it tasted funny. About an hour later she threw up all over the car. Not sure if it was food poisoning, but that was the only time she threw up and she felt like eating after that, so I don't think she had the flu, plus no fever and no one else got sick.

We had a great time on our trip and the room didn't ruin it, but we've definately had better rooms. My Aunt and Uncle have stayed there twice however and really liked it. We were with friends who stayed there the same time as us on a different floor and, although they didn't like the size of the room or the distance from the park, they didn't have any other real problems. So I think it should be okay, anyway it won't ruin your trip.

As far as the cheerleaders go, I've never personally experienced it, but have known two other families who have. One said that they would never do it again when the cheerleaders were there, the other said it was really crowded.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But I'm sure your family will have a great time. If you are thinking of changing hotels, try going directly through the individual hotels.

    Good luck!

We'll be there the same time you are- here's hoping it won't be too bad.

Sounds like room and beds will be a little bigger. With a toddler in tow and cheerleaders running rampant around the park, it will be better to be able to walk away and escape if necessary instead of waiting for a shuttle! Thanks for the help!

I don't know if it is the entire week or just that portion but sometime during that timeframe. The lady at vacation planning told me that it is always really crowded during that time and they even hire extra staff at the hotels and surrounding area to accomodate all of the cheerleaders and their families. Yikes, I am a little worried but figure that we are close enough now that we can retreat if we need. It's fun enough for us just to be at the resort so if it's too crowded we'll just people watch and enjoy the sights and sounds...we'll let you know how it turns out! :0)
