    If you look at recent announced or proposed infrastructure projects, such as HK-Zhuhai-Macau MegaBridge, HK-Shenzhen Airport Rail Link, Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link, these are transportation facilities linking Lantau island by feeding passengers or tourists from both directions(West and North of Lantau Island) in addition to the Current North Lantau Highyway(and MTR Lantau line) which feeds passengers from the East.

    Hong Kong Government plans to build a New MonoRail in Old Kai Tak Airport Site linking the new cruise terminal, proposed Sports City, and various tourist attractions at South East Kowloon.

    The Monorail is only in initial planning stage.
