Which is the better hotel and why? There are 2 adults and 2 kids in my group.

I've nothing but horrendous experiences at Desert Inn, including credit card fraud, dirty rooms, etc.

HoJo's isn't right across the crosswalk like Desert Inn, but it's a wonderful hotel! The grounds are very nice. They have two large resort-style pools. Desert Inn has a dinky, smelly one right on the parking lot.

Desert Inn staff is rude and unhelpful. HoJo's staff bends over backwards for you.

Desert Inn parking is terrible. HoJo's has plenty.

    Shall I continue? lol

I thought the Desert Slums were dirty, staff was rude beyond belief, parking was a joke, yea the walk was short but when you know what you were walking back to then it just can't be long enough......

Hojos is far the better choice (I think anyhow)
