Is the value of clean towels and sheet service really only costing you $5.00 or is this the stupidest idea ever?

Someone in marketing figured there are enough gullible people out there who will be fooled by the idea of "saving the planet" by allowing hotel management to employ less housekeepers and order fewer cleaning supplies.

If you are really of the opinion that forgoing hotel housekeeping is going to save the planet, that the Manmade Global Warming situation is that dire, then you really should not have engaged in the decadent behavior of a Disney World vacation to begin with. The trip from home to the airport in a car just did 10 times more damage than tidying up the room and replacing used towels will do, let alone being shot through the stratosphere in a plane burning jet fuel so you can be entertained in coal-fired air conditioned comfort by singing robot pirates and electrical parades and Hoop-De-Doo chicken dinners.

If Global Warming is your concern and you think you are better by being "green" to save bucks off replacement towels and a bathtub wipe down during your decadent Disney World vacation, you should have just stayed home and read a used book.

But Sheraton's corporate Marketing Department won't admit that.

I will boycott Swan/Dolphin.
But you know, noone who stays at the Swan/Dolphin really is concerned about saving $5. They can afford it and don't want a messy room.

Let me add it was so hot everybody sat at the pool all day long ...drinking...all weekend long...Our drink tab was double the room cost total So that five bucks would have been a great help!!!

I do think that re using towels would be huge help in reducing the amount of laundry they would have to do. Imagine how many loads of laundry in Las vegas could be saved if people didnt need housekeeping every day? i notice some hotels have signs where you can have the option to be green, but dont offer any money back.

Getting brand new towels each day has always seemed excessive, I just don't think I'm that dirty and certainly at home don't use a new towel after each shower ( does anyone?).

Although, I never considered that it may be a cause for them to dismiss housekeeping staff or cut their hours. I suppose I would be more inclined to just let them wash and change them if I thought it was helping people keep their jobs.
