I usually start my wash before I go to bed, and switch the clothes to the dryer when I wake up so they can dry while I get ready for work. This morning I opened the washer lid only to find my clothes still swimming in water. There is no working rinse cycle or spin cycle. Imagine if you will PB bailing out water as I rinse and wring out the clothes for the dryer. And of course, the first dryer cycle didn't dry everything completely because the clothes were quite wet when placed in there.
