I'm mostly concerned about rush hour traffic....HELP, please??????????? :0)

However, you need to be there 2 hours before for check in and to get through security.

I say leave by 3:30. 4PM at the latest. You never know what kind of traffic you'll hit. On a Wednesday, you will definitely hit traffic, but the degree is what's unforeseen.

I'm just curious: since that's between terminals and security is so tight nowadays... how do you GET to it? Do they have a little shuttle van that goes to the various terminals or something?

And even with carpool lanes ... they aren't 100% of the time reliable.

From the DLR/Anahiem to the far west side of LA (LAX) allow 90 minutes minimum to 2 hours.

    I'm serious!

With the amount of car accidents every single day .... the number of cars on the freeway .. no matter what time of day (Now into 2008) ...... it just keeps getting nastier and nastier.

Don't under estimate LA Traffic. :~

I think we are number One in the nation for commute times.

So take it from a OC/LA native.

It's not fast food - its really slow food, - so don't eat there if you plan to catch a plane!

It is also outside security, because LAX has a horrible security layout. Almost every single terminal is seperated from the next, so it requires leaving security and going back in to transfer for a lot of flights. I had to do this at Christmas, and almost missed the second flight because it took so long to get through security again. My parents tried going a different way, and they got through the line in half the time we did, using a different security place in the same terminal.

I've been to LAX around that time several times in the last year, and the crowds haven't been too bad, so there is definately wiggle room on the time that you get there. I would guess that it would take less than 1 hour 15 minutes to get there, even with bad traffic, but I'm not sure. You could check a van service website as if you were going to use them, and see when they want to pick you up. That would be a pretty good indicator of when you would need to leave, since they always get you there with plenty of time to spare. (Super Shuttle and Prime Time Shuttle seem to be popular LAX choices).

LA traffic is just one of those things. :0) I think the safest thing for us to do is leave on the 4:45 shuttle....by the time we leave DL Hotel it will be about 5pm. That gives us 2 hours to get to LAX. If we are early... even better. I'm from Albuquerque, NM....going through our security check point is nothing. LAX is a bit overwhelming to me. Better safe than sorry! :0) Thanks for the advice!

By the way...LuLu apparently Encounter is open again. I looked it up online. They did close for a time. They are open every day for lunch and only open like Thursday-Sunday for dinner. We probably won't be able to go there afterall.....there's always next time. :0)
