The Tomatometer at RT keeps dropping for Cars 2, as more and more reviews come in. It's currently at 48%.

Even though I fully expect this film to do very well at the box, it will probably end up as the worst rated Pixar film to date. So far, the lowest RT rating for a Pixar film was Cars at 74%. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

It is a simple merchandise-driven affair - lots of action, fast-paced and a basic linear storyline. It isn't trying to be anything else.

I really hated the first movie - it displayed too much of Lasseter's usual plotpoints as far as I was concerned and it is definitely the worst Pixar movie IMHO.

The US box office really needs a shot in the arm - a lot is riding on the releases of Cars 2, Transformers 3 and HP7.2.

I thought it had a very 'sequelly' feel about it which the Toy Story sequels didn't.. Something about it was just off.. My point is that the best animated features, IMO, are the ones that aren't 'kids' movies.

I'm not sure the problem is that they aren't making new movies. The issue seems to be in the marketability of those movies.

Me either. It's called 'How Do You Know' and stars Reese, Nicholson, Paul Rudd and is directed by James L. Brooks -- (Broadcast News, As Good As it Gets).

Tried to watch it on DVD a few weeks back -- terrible. Didn't even finish it.

Although I did watch 'I am Number Four' on DVD which I had never heard of at all (dunno how I missed it) and thought it was terrific!

I agree Jim. I found it on Redbox, knew nothing of it, tried it and really enjoyed it. Interesting to see the credits roll by and see the writers from the early years of Smallville.
