Shopping and Disneyland are like chocolate and peanut butter for me.

We have been to DL in 2005 for 8 days, then again in 2007 for 11 days at the beginning of our trip and changed our plans to stay another 3 days at the end of our trip (luckily we upgraded to APs). We were getting boxes of stuff sent home to Australia and ended up on a first name basis with the front desk guy at the DLH who always seemed to be working when we went to ship our purchases.

    We must be stopped!

    I collect and spend on:

    - books about the making of parks/attractions/business/imagineering

    - Mouse ears

    - Disney Hawaiian shirts

    - Watches

    - Cuff links

    - Ties

    - Kitchen equipment (when they used to do good stuff, like DLP used to have themed china from the table service restaurants, by the time we saved up, they only had the tea set, now they do not sell any of it).

    - Mikey collects Disney die cast cars and ride verhicles

    - Jessica likes Princess Dresses, and Mike likes the masculine costumes

    - Disney charms for Jessica

    - Real Disney gold jewelry and handbags for mama

    - Office equipment for me.

    - Also collect soundtracks and park DVD's when there are new things.

    - For pins, I collect attractions, Maleficent, Churnabog and Special Events. The kids and Sarah go for the ones we like.

Sadly, our last DLP trip was very telling - we spent $75, most of that was for other people. WE used to spend closer to $750 a trip, but there is little of interest anymore.

The biggest thing we buy is engraved glass wear as presents for friends and family when there is a big event - wedding, milestone birthday/anniversary etc.

I miss it when shopping was good at the parks. At least Disneyland has the special merchandise events, not many of the other resorts do.

If they have new Disney dollars I might buy a few ones at the park just to collect them.

Awwww, you're such cute little liar :)

You know...even when I was a little bearcub, I used to like getting the books. I still have a souvenir pictorial of It's a Small World...some pages are no longer with us due to my sister ripping them out. If you were to look at the book, you would see that Africa and the South Pacific do not exist :p

When my family started going in the early 90s, I fell in love with those panoramic souvenir picture books and would always look at them when I was at my friend's house.

Btw...why does Mr. Toad always get left out in all of the picture books? Seriously...the exterior is always shown, but never the inside...

So I always buy some collectible, art work, event piece, etc from the Disney Gallery or Disneyana when there. I bought a lot of Christmas stuff in 2008 on my annual trip which I planned the week before Thanksgiving to catch all the holiday decor and attractions. So yes, I never leave DL without adding something to my collection. I have moved on from buying most of what they sell in WoD or the Emporium (except for maybe a few pins here or there).

Basically, no-holds-barred, but neither of us are shopaholics by nature so it's not too outrageous. :)

Nevertheless, I only bought two souvenirs for myself, albeit they were from a Disney gift card (I did have to pay the difference for one of them): the SHAG Haunted Mansion coasters for $15 at Disneyana and a matted reproduction of the attraction poster for The Country Bear Jamboree for $35 at World of Disney.

I also bought my mom a sweatshirt, and my dad the updated DL: Then, Now, Yesterday, Tomorrow, Last Week and Forever book. Because the purchases were over $40, I threw in $15 for the rolling duffle bag offer... See, right now if you spend $40+ at World of Disney, you can get this duffle bag for $15. It also rolls like a regular piece of luggage, so that was pretty cool; I do wish it had a shoulder strap though.

What we don't buy (or buy much less of these days) are pins, postcard or other souvenirs, or clothing. The clothing stuff is crazy expensive (or maybe I'm cheap) A tshirt runs about $29 bucks (the ones I've see where I was like "oh this looks nice") but more often than not I don't bother wiht any of it.

At WDW where you'd think we'd get more stuff since it's an annul trip we're more likely to buy postcards to send friend from Florida or for the the scrapbook projects I've never started. ;P

We may be more likely to buy pins also.. but we also have so many pins even though we stopped buying to trade several years ago, so I take a bag full of Disneyland pins to trade with Cast Members to get some new WDW pins for our collection, which saves a lot of money (in that it was already spent).

Any clothes we usually purchase are done at the Outlets.. (although last year they had an amazing tshirt sale at the park & were giving 20% off on selected merch).

We are prone to get more snacks like cinnamon rolls and treats at WDW (especially at EPCOT or Animal Kingdom.. they have a good tea truck there) and meals.. b/c there's a wider selection of places to go.

I know you didn't ask about WDW but I figured I'd include it because our buying habits are different than they are at Disneyland.

I did see an Olsenzombie replica of the Mansion for $325 at World of Disney...beautiful, but me no have $325 to spend on such items. I also saw the $16,000 SHAG Mansion painting at Disneyana...a CM at World of Disney worked the 8/9/09 event and mentioned how a guest dropped $17K for a painting...
