Luckily since I'm not working and have very few commitments these days I can nap as needed. I guess it's just my body's way of getting ready for my little man's arrival and the lack of sleep I'm going to have for years to come!

Yeah that is one reason why I started this topic. I suspect I may be BS'ing myself too. I probably should get more sleep. I'm gonna' try to now that school has started back and I have to get the kids in bed, up by 5:45 and on the road by 6:15. I was VERY sleepy driving them this morning and that isn't wise nor safe at all. My morning trip takes about 2 hours for the full loop.

I average about 5 weeknights, and then maybe 3 or 4 per night on Friday and Saturday. That was fine when I was younger, but I think I am starting to BS myself, and am hitting a wall during the mid afternoon that could be avoided with more zzzzz's.

Normally, I shoot for 6-8 hours a night. Seven is pretty typical.

Hopefully he'll get back to a regular morning schedule on a few weeks here with summer almost over.

I've been told you can't really make up for "lost" sleep. Adding more hours once a week doesn't balance it out.

I'd agree with that. If I miss sleep during the week it seems like I need to add twice as many hours at the weekend to make up.

I try to allow myself 8-9 hours of inactivity a night. How much of that is spent actually asleep and how much lying awake worrying varies a lot.
