It will let you know when fares have lowered for your destination and for your dates. They have really great fares, anyway. And if you do book with SWA, and find a lower fare with them later, you get the credit if you can't get a refund, which you can use at a later date, within a year. And it's no hassle.

otherwise, look at Travelocity. They have the low-price guarantee.

Quite a few airlines match Southwest prices plus you get a guarenteed seat without being like a cattle herd an hour before the flight even leaves. The Alaska Air website is real easy to navigate.

You can check express jet and jet blue - if they fly from your area, you can get really good deals from them...Also don't just look for roundtrip - many times you can find incredible deals on internet specials oneway - so just book two one way tickets. I did that in sept from Oakland. I flew into LAX for $54 (including tax and fees) and flew out of burbank $59...Roundtrip was nearly $200.

It is a little annoying if you are going into the site to just look and you are a hyper surfer like me, because it will always pop up the Yapta screen when you pull up any airfare screen.

Southwest just started flying out where I am about a year ago, but I have yet to fly them since I have always found cheaper airfare on other airlines.

Sign up for Alaska Air emails and periodically you'll get an email with a discount code. Generally, anything $100 or less each way is what I look for. Oh, and if at all possible, avoid flying into LAX, it's a nightmare. And the traffic from LAX can add another 2+ hours after you've landed.

Ding is great, but sometimes it's what left and odd times of the day. This will be my last SW trip. I'm returning to Alaska.
