How many movies can they make almost exactly the same? Can't the writers think of something new? It was an ok movie, but the first one was better. Oh well.

HSM2's theme is about accepting others. As far as the "hype" goes, that's just the nature of the business. Whoever thought that the players in a Disney Channel movie would be featured on the covers of so many national publications? Or that the opening event would attract media from around the world? HSM, like it or not, is a phenomenon. And the folks at the Disney Channel will, properly, exploit that to the hilt.

I thought the "new Disney" wasn't going to do needless sequels? It sounds like the 2nd one is as useless as the first one.. Then again I guess there's a market for the cheerleader people over-running WDW. =(

Frankly, as a parent, HSM1 had a lot of good "talking points" for pre-teens. Frankly, I'm a big fan of harmless fun with snappy tunes. It reminds me of old 60s movies with those scary big bikinis and silly dancing on the beach. I'd rather sit through this than Ratatouille, which for me was rather boring. As far as stepping it up a notch, I believe they were trying for more complex choreography. It didn't do much for me though. But ask my kids "What time is it" and they'll do the clock dance moves. The sad part is, we don't even have tv. We saw it once in a cabin in the woods that had cable and they're completely hooked.
