To add insult to injury, due to complaints by my daughter and her neighbors, the signs were removed before I left. (They were up a total of 10 days.) We tried everything (phone calls, emails etc.) to try to get it straightened out before I left. We even talked to the issuing officer who said she would write to the judge and tell him it had been a mistake. All to no avail. When I got home I sent in the citation marked "contested" and wrote a long letter explaining the situation. They sent me back a court date. Complete with threats about added fines and warrants for my arrest if I did not show up or pay up. Since the courthouse is just down the street from my daughter I told her that if she would go and represent me I would give her the $25 I would have to send them. When she got to the courthouse she was told, "Oh, that case was dropped yesterday, we wanted to call you but did not have your phone number." (They had all the information.) Chalk one up to small town politics;oP

Reminds me of Mr. Twister in Santa Cruz; he was cited for putting quarters into expired parking meters of other people's cars. The public outcry was so bad that they changed the law. You are now allowed to be a good Samaritan.
